Greeting to all our wonderful patrons and theatre members! I just wanted to write to all of you again and give you the latest news.

WE'RE NOT MOVING!

At least not for the foreseeable future. Let me tell you what's been happening and maybe it will leave you as excited as it has me.

As you know, we've been preparing to be out of this location at the end of July. I was approached by a couple about two weeks ago, who wish to remain anonymous, offering to donate $15,000 to the theatre with only two stipulations. One was that we needed to try and stay here at this location and the other to be able to show that we could reasonably support that endeavor for 18 months. We sat down and looked hard at our books. We still couldn't quite get there without a little help. That help came in the form of Mr. Joe Crain. We made a proposal to Mr. Crain which he accepted, allowing us the breathing room to get on our feet. Once again, Mr. Crain proved to be one of our greatest supporters and friends. Between him and our anonymous donors, we have a new lease on life here at this building.

Our proposal was a two-pronged approach. We asked to be allowed the next six months to get some good historical data and see if we could continue. In November, we will reassess whether we can afford to stay. If we can, we are already cleared to continue renting for the following 12 months (thus the 18 month stipulation can be met). That gives us the chance to get our house in order and really kick off this new chapter in our story.

And what an exciting time to be a part of the theatre! Let me give you a little insight into what we're thinking about and more importantly what we're doing. First off, I want to announce that we are going back to using our official name of "The Newnan Community Theatre Company, Inc." You may ask why, especially after we finally got the signs on the outside changed this year. The reason is simple, we want to once again remind all of you, and more importantly ourselves, that all of us are part of the community! This theatre is not just about the folks who do theatre, it's about all the people who come to be a part of the total experience and that includes all of you. You will see more of us this year, we'll be involved in many community type events, like parades, market days, main street, etc. Folks, we're tired of being the best kept secret in Newnan! We want to share the theatre experience with the whole community. Will you help us?

The NITWITS, NCTC Improv Troupe With Intelligent Thoughtful Sensibilities (actually the WITS part of NITWITS has no actual official name and part of the fun is seeing how it will morph over time), are preparing for their first public debut. The first show is going to be on June 28th in the Black Box. The NITWITS meet every Saturday from 3:00 - 6:00 back in the black box. Come on out and join us!

There will be a Murder Mystery/Dinner at the end of July. "Wait until Dark" has one more weekend, while "Tales of a Fourth Grade Nothing" and "Little Shop of Horrors" gearing up now.

With all this being said, we we need help! Of all kinds. Please remember we are an all-volunteer organization. We need you, part of our community, to succeed and thrive. These are just some of the many things we need help with: Landscaping (ok, mainly mowing, but we're open to more if you want to help do it), concessions, ushers, house manager on duty, season ticket holder relations, sound/light technicians, box office, advertising/publicity, producers, tradesman of all sorts. Still need more A/C, but the A/C is working in the main stage.

And if you can't do anything else, help get more people here to see the shows!

By the way, the new season will be announced in August and we'll begin the Season Ticket Sales on September 1st! So start preparing now. I know of no better Christmas gift than that of the theatre. Also, we are revamping our Season Ticket Holder procedures and benefits. And no, I'm not going to elaborate right now. I have to leave anticipating something!

As I said in my last note, if you have suggestions we welcome them. Please COMPLAIN (how many times will you hear someone say that?) or praise! We can only get better by hearing from you. Our goal is to constantly improve and to have something better every time you come see us.

In the meantime, feel free to contact me at rolsenjr@gmail.com.
